Justification of Plan Recognition Results
نویسنده
چکیده
Expert systems are typically expected to be able to justify their decisions to the user. This paper argues that help systems or tutoring systems based on a plan recognizer can equally benefit from an explanation component. To this end a plan recognition system equippedwith a usermodel is presented and the techniques required to generate precise and useful justifications of its results are introduced. The system answers questions about various aspects of a decision and allows its user to check and adjust the user model if necessary.

An Investigation of Probabilistic Interpretations of Heuristics in Plan Recognition
Plan recognition is the process of inferring a plausible set of plans that explain an agent’s actions. In this paper, I use a small example to focus on some non-probabilistic heuristics proposed in the literature for preferring one plan over another. I show some of the conditions or constraints on the probability distributions so that the plan that is preferred by the heuristics is also the mos...

Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) are security tools widely used in computer networks. While they seem to be promising technologies, they pose some serious drawbacks: When utilized in large and high traffic networks, IDSs generate high volumes of low-level alerts which are hardly manageable. Accordingly, there emerged a recent track of security research, focused on alert correlation, which ext...
متن کاملSkepticism and Foundations
Special foundations theories of justification can be contrasted with no-foundations theories. The two sorts of theories differ in the answers they give to the question, “Which of a person’s beliefs and inferential methods require justification in terms of other beliefs and/or methods?” No-foundations theories answer that all beliefs and methods require such justification. Special foundation’s t...
متن کاملElement of justification in contemporary epistemology
The definition of propositional knowledge has been said to be: "knowledge is belief in justified truth" and belief, truth, and justified are necessary and adequate conditions in the actualization of knowledge. Many faults have been directed towards this three elemental definition, which some of them have been derived from the element of justification. This article reviews some of the most im...
متن کاملSolution of Applied Problems: Formalization, Methodology, Justification
Nowadays there is a tendency of the growth of applied problems for the solution of which formal methods and computers are used. Naturally, there arise problems of correspondence between theory and practice, the key one being the assessment of the quality of the obtained results. The paper deals with questions of management of the applied problem solution. Three groups of problems have been cons...
